I would eventually like to get to St. Marien and St. Aegidien in Heiligenstadt to take a look at their Kirchenbucher. But in an e-mail exchange Kerstin Heinevetter suggested that I place this search request in the forum so here goes. I am looking for any information on the following individuals:
Charles Joseph JÜNEMANN
* ~1847 Heiligenstadt
oo 21.05.1901 Mary Elizabeth Swick
+ 04.1942 New York
Eltern: Henry JÜNEMANN oo Catherine HARTUNG
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Re: Charles Joseph JÜNEMANN aus Heiligenstadt ~1874
Hello,
I was excited to find your post with these two names! Charles Joseph Junemann & Mary Elizabeth Swick are my grandparents on my father's side. They started out in New York City & settled in Flushing, Queens, New York in a house on Sanford Avenue. They had six children ~ Marie & Catherine (twin girls born 1902), Anna, Joseph, William (my father, born 1912) & Charles. I was told by my father that his dad Charles came to America from Heiligenstadt, Germany when he was about 8 years old, with only $10 dollars in his pocket. I have several photographs available that I could send you. I would love to find out what your connection is to them & also find out about my family's roots in Heiligenstadt. I would love to be in contact with my "Junemann & Swick" relatives over in Germany & discuss our family history. I look forward to hearing from you!
My best regards,
William F Junemann, Jr

Re: Charles Joseph JÜNEMANN aus Heiligenstadt ~1874
Hey you two - I would eventually (if you don't already have) expand your search on the "German" names Karl Josef Jünemann or Karl Joseph Jünemann.
I think the names of a lot of people were 'anglicized' when emigrating to the US. E.g. the famous piano manufacturer "Steinway" was born as Heinrich E. Steinweg here in the Harz area and became Henry E. Steinway after settling over to New York - so your ancestor Charles may have been born as Karl.
Good luck!
Sven
